Ewel-tide events! 09/12/2010
Well, it really has been cold down on the farm and all the staff, and some of the animals, have been out to buy thermal vests and long-johns. Let’s hope it’s not like this all winter!
The opening event celebrating Santa’s arrival was a huge success. The cast of Aladdin at The Grand Theatre all came along to see him. As did the farm’s very own Syd Little. The Mayor also came along with his family. Of course, the Farm Favourites – Oopsy Daisy and Iggle Piggle had a good old dance to Granny Ashworth’s Disco. It was a huge success.
We have had a few of the older generation taking quite a liking to Santa this year – in fact a few have offered to become Mrs. Claus – now calm down ladies, there already is a Mrs Claus!
Tyson the tup (male sheep) was in a bad mood yesterday and decided to take on the Farm manger. After giving Farmer Brian the evil eye he proceeded to give him a good olde butt on the bottom – oops! Don’t worry we will keep a close eye on Tyson in the future.
The baby rabbits will be ready to go to their new homes very soon. They are so friendly and cheeky (as they have been hand reared) they have been very popular with visitors.
The Big freeze proved too intense for our corn snakes and we have had to move them into Farmer Sophie’s nice warm office – the only trouble is she is terrified of dead mice – the snakes food of choice – so no pranks please ‘Johnny of all trades’ and feeding time may have to be restricted to after office hours.
Some of the animals have been getting a bit hyper – as they just have not been able to play out in this freezing weather – let’s hope we get a few days reprieve now please.
Rudolph and friends are getting a little chubby – as everyone that visits Santa is desperate to feed them. Santa has threatened to put them on a diet before Christmas Eve as they have to be in peak condition for the big night. They do training flights at night – so keep your eyes peeled over the skies above Fleetwood.
David and Maggie took part in our live nativity for a few days but they were persistent escapologists and they have had to be substituted with Dingo and Minty. (Yes ewe are right – Minty is the sheep that has a love for the music of ‘The Black Eyed Peas’).
‘Ewel – Tide Bleatings’ from everyone at the farm – Farmer Parr.
P.S. Any one that fancies knitting our little naked rats’ woolly winter jumpers – please feel free. I’m a little rusty on the knitting front.
