New Year Improvements - 20/1/2011
Eeeye byee gum – I hope everyone has had a good 2011 so far!
Let me think about what has been happening down on the farm....
We closed for a week over Christmas and most people had a well earned rest. Then I was straight on with a new building project as soon as the New Year arrived. We are turning the ‘Olde School Room’ into Birthday Party rooms and a new studio for The Dance School. It’s quite a big job and will take a couple of months to complete. We are renewing the toilet block at the same time – with all the mod cons - I might even put a heater in there!!
Farmer Debbie is away at the moment. Betty the Border Terrorist and Alfie the Cat have kept me company though. Betty is really missing Farmer Debbie and can’t wait for her to get back. Debbie doesn’t seem to realise that Farmers don’t have holidays!
Over the last few weeks the weather has been milder and all the big animals have been able to get out and stretch their legs in the paddocks – today however its back to freezing and very slippery – so they will have to stay in the barn until the ice melts.
We have 2 baby rabbits that are looking for really good homes. They are Netherland Dwarf crosses so won’t grow too big - one is black and the other grey.
David and Maggie the pet lambs from last year are always busy making a nuisance of themselves. They even followed Farmer Sam to the loo last week but generally they just bounce around endlessly causing mischief.
Mr Tiddley Winkle – our albino hedgehog has gone to hedgehog heaven. RIP Mr Tiddley Winkle.
Mrs Pig has been in season and has been a little bit frisky as there is no ‘Mr Pig’ to be found. Oh well Mrs pig, you’ll have to make do with a bit of ankle nibbling.
Our famous pigs, Eddie and Elvis, went out in out the paddock for a day of fresh air and frolicking. Afterwards they were sooo tired they slept for 2 days solid – lucky olde piggies.
Farmer Sophie has had to bring her dog into the office today – his name is ‘BOO!’ – he’s one of those fluffy little things – not a proper terrorist like my Betty! He’s a rather a silly breed – a ‘Cockapoo’ – believe it or not. A cross between a cocker spaniel and a poodle (whatever next)!
We have some excellent volunteers and work experience people with us at the moment. Farmer Sam would like to say a special thankyou to Ellena and Hope for their hard work and dedication. Farmer Sophie would like to thank Katie for all her help in the office. She's better at spelling than Farmer Sophie (but don't tell anyone)!
We have introduced a new winter price of just £3 per person until 1st March – so I hope to see ewe down on the farm – Farmer Parr.
BOO the Cockapoo!
